Jimmy was born in Seagraves, Texas on July 10th 1955. He was born on a Sunday at 2:30 pm and he weighed 8 pounds and 9 ounces. He rolled over the first day he was born. Jimmy went to church from when he was a small child. He was saved in the summer of 1963 by Brother Lewis Adams at Turner Road Baptist Church.
